Thanks to our wonderful volunteers! - 2020

Thanks to our wonderful volunteers who came out last Sunday at 7 am to clean the roadside from below Galbraith Park to Crawford Gulch...and the Golden Gate Grange and GGFPD Station 3 property, too! A big shout out to Gordon and Laura Pierce, Terri Costeldia, Rich Phillips, Alyn Hansen,

Mat Martonovich, Alison Hatch, Trent, Kim and Rick Bonczynski, DeeDee Ramstetter, Paul Trost, Molly Niven, Tera Wineland, Nancy and Dave Kincheloe with Iris and Eden, Jim Askew, Shannette Priest, Janet and Dave Primmer and Annie Unger. This incredible turnout enabled us to wrap up the project by 8:30 a.m.

Thanks to Sally and Tom Wingfield for weed whacking the grasses around the Grange property! It certainly looks great.

Finally, thanks to Janet and Dave Primmer, Rich Phillips, Mitch Jervis and Trent, Kim and Rick Bonczynski for continuing to handle the big task of can recycling!!! We appreciate all the donation of cans, especially since it looks like our only major fundraiser this year!

VIRTUAL PRESENTATION

TUESDAY, OCT. 6 2020 AT 7 PM

Wildlife Program-

Wolves, Coyotes, Rattlesnakes

Join us on Tuesday, October 6 at 7 p.m. for our next program in the Colorado Wildlife Series. This will be a virtual presentation. Grange members will receive an email with sign-in details. This year Mary Ann Bonnell from Jefferson County Open Space will speak about Rattlesnakes, Coyotes and Wolves. Ms. Bonnell is a human-wildlife conflict researcher. In the past she has shared local information and safety tips for interactions with mountain lions, moose and bears.

With the ballot issue about the possible reintroduction of wolves and the reported sightings of wolves in the northwestern part of the state, this is an important time to learn more about wolf biology and behavior and how it compares to coyote ecology.

Another subject of importance is how to avoid harmful encounters with rattlesnakes for both humans and animals. In recent years two hikers were bitten at Mt. Galbraith Park, resulting in one death and one serious injury. It is critical to know how to minimize the chances of such encounters, and also what to do if a person or a pet is bitten.

BRING SOME HOLIDAY CHEER TO JEFFCO FOSTER KIDS! - 2020

In past years the Golden Gate Grange has helped the Jefferson County Foster Parents' Association bring a happy Christmas to foster children in our county. Due to Covid restrictions we will not be able to host the wrapping event at the Grange. We would like to help with this effort in a new way. Janet Primmer has a truck load of donated gifts. Those interested in helping will be given the name of a foster child or two and age appropriate presents. Volunteers are asked to pick up the gifts at the Grange, wrap them at home and return the wrapped gifts back to the Grange. You can add additional gifts for the children if you like, but it is not required. Janet will coordinate with Jeffco County Foster Parent's Association and they will have a distribution day when foster parents will pick up their foster childrens' gifts. You will not be required to help with the distribution. If you would like to help, please email Janet Primmer at janddprimmer@gmail.com .
