2021 Golden Gate Grange Recognition Event

Join us at the Golden Gate Grange to honor the recipients of the 2020 and 2021 Granger and Citizen's Awards at 2pm on Sunday, September 12th 2021.

Our 2021 Granger of the year is Gale Baughman, life long Canyon resident and valued Grange member; Citizen of the year is Steve Schaefer and the Meyer/Schaefer family, who have owned and run Meyer's Hardware and have supported so many charities and organizations in the Golden area for many, many years. Steve will be retiring and closing the business very soon.

Our 2020 Granger of the year was Natalie Mozer, who passed away last winter, and Gerrit Verschuur, who was a member of the GGFPD for over 20 years. Regrettably, we were not able to hold this event last summer due to the Covid restrictions, but are anxious to honor Natalie and Gerrit now.

We will also be celebrating the milestone of 80 years since the Golden Gate Grange was chartered...one year late, again.

Come and find out who will be honored for 40, 50 and 65 continuous years as Golden Gate Grange members!

Mid Winter 2021 - News and Events

Line Dancing - Every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month 7-9 p.m.

We have been holding Golden Gate Grange meetings via the internet since March 2020. If you would like to join the virtual meetings, please notify Jayne Ruesch (jayruesch@aol.com) and we will add you to the roster.

Our new system for the marquee has been installed and lights added. Thanks to Rich Phillips and Dave Primmer for their work on this project.

Terri Costeldia, Rich Phillips and DeeDee Ramstetter have been busy cleaning, organizing and updating the Grange interior. They will be painting and refreshing the main entryway, kitchen and the restrooms. We hope to be able to replace the damaged and stained ceiling in the main room when finances permit.

At the last Grange meeting several ideas for the warmer month were discussed. Included in the discussions were an outdoor garden sale, a food truck, and a summer outdoor concert. We are all anxious to be able to gather as a community and will monitor the health conditions in the county when deciding on where and how to accomplish that end.

In Memoriam

We lost a valued member of our Grange in January 2021 with the passing of Natalie Mozer.

Natalie Zerobnick Mozer was a lifelong Denver resident. She moved to Golden Gate Canyon in the early 2000’s and for the next almost 20 years was an integral part of the community. Her twice yearly open house parties were legend. Oldtimers and new residents were invited. New friendships were born out of these gatherings. Natalie was always open to including new faces, new families. Her party organizing skills also included coordinating several reunions for her Class of 1960 for her alma mater, East High School in Denver.

Natalie leant her energy to supporting the two main community organizations in the canyon, the Golden Gate Fire Protection District and the Golden Gate Grange. For several years she organized both a fundraising effort and the food for the annual Fire Department Pig Roast. More recently, Natalie faithfully manned the kitchen at our monthly Grange Pancake Breakfasts, always supplying extra goodies like fresh fruits and berries.

She is survived by daughters, Sheri Mozer, Jill Mozer and Lora Mozer (Linette Erickson) and grandsons Connor, Hunter and Tyler Powell.

Contributions in Natalie’s memory can be made to The Denver Hospice or National Jewish Health.
